New illustrations

Since my last post here in March, I have worked on quite a few different illustrations, and so rather then sit here and create numerous different posts for you to search through, I have decided to select a few and place them within one update.

I hope you like them. You will notice I have started to use more textures in my work. This is something I have been playing around with for the last 1-2 months, as I feel it brings a whole new depth to them.

For any one who visits my site regularly, you will notice that I don't really upload much of my design work. This isn't due to me favouring my illustration over my design, but as I work mainly in the retail sector, a lot of the concepts are strictly confidential until they are due for release.

I will try to make a conscience effort in the future months to try and upload some of my older work though. In the mean time, I do have a selection of it on my site. You can see it by clicking here.

Updates

So, after what has been nearly 6 months since my last proper update on this site, I have decided to try and update back on here on a more regular basis.

I originally redesigned my personal website in WordPress and decided to use their blog facility. Although I have found their blog great and still intend to use it, I do think it is important to get my work 'out there' through any avenues possible and so I think continuing to post on blogger is important.

I am moving... Well, my blog is any way.

So after having my blog here for a few years, I have decided that I wanted to keep everything together and so have moved my blog to WordPress.

I have recently revised my website in WordPress and so it kind of made sense to keep everything together, rather then have a separate Blogger one.

In time I may decide that WordPress isn't working for me and so may move back here,
but for the time being at least I will only be using that one. So if you would like to keep up-to-date with all my latest news and illustrations, please come and visit me at my site www.danbaileyonline.co.uk and check out my blog there.

After a busy Christmas period and an incredible break away to Florida in late January, this month has been a harsh return to working life for me.

Whilst away, I was requested to work on a number of exciting illustrative projects and have spent day and night completing them. I count myself very lucky to have the opportunity to get paid for something I truly love. As anyone who reads this blog regularly knows, my dream is to one day be able to illustrate full-time and hopefully this year I will be taking the first steps to make this a reality.

Some of the characters that I have been working on recently are shown above. These guys will soon be running wild across Switzerland in an online promotion that I am currently working on. I will explain more in the coming months, but these are just a few of the 25 I had to do in total.

Within the next few months I will be moving my blog from here, back to www.danbaileyonline.co.uk. I will write a post when I do and so keep an eye out for that.

After a busy 2010, 2011 has slowed down a bit for me and has enabled me to get back into the swing of drawing.

I had an amazing time throughout 2010, working with some incredible talent at some fine design agencies. I learnt so much over the last year, but having the opportunity to take a week or so off to recharge my batteries and get back to doing what I love so much means the absolute world to me.

Here are a few of the illustrations I have worked on this week. I will be sure to update you with any additional illustrations I work on.

Happy New Year

 

Well, the best way to probably start this post is to wish you all a Happy New Year.

I hope the early days of 2011 are proving to be enjoyable, but lets face it, they probably are as a lot of us aren't due back at work until tomorrow.

The last few months of 2010 proved to be a bit frustrating for me, as I had a very limited amount of drawing time over the space of four months. This meant that I had a lot of half started illustrations that had been neglected and some which have been forgotten about completely. I have been able to finish a couple over the Christmas period and have posted them above.

I am hoping to get to spend more of this year drawing, though that will mean leaving my comfort zone of the regular freelance design work that I have been doing. I will need to make a big decision at some point and decide if I want to take that plunge and try my hand at a full-time illustration career in the future.

Until I have made that choice, I will continue to create as many illustrations as I can and post them for you to see here.
