Doodle

I've been thinking of updating the banner on my blog for a while now, but have always managed to be too busy. Though when I did have the time, I always seemed to forget to do it and have just ended up playing Call of Duty on my Xbox and getting my ass kicked by some 12 year old.

Initially I wanted to create something 'doodle-based' to reflect the nature of the site, but after quickly roughing out this illustration (above) I felt it may get a little lost and so I decided to use one of my previously created images.

I have also updated the design a little, as Blogspot have finally made their templates a little easier to revise. Though there are still some elements which I can't seem to change for love nor money (like getting rid of these pesky shadows from around my images), but I will leave that rant for another day.

I hope you enjoy the new look.

School Dinners

A few weeks ago I uploaded a sketch of a School Dinner lady serving up lunch to some rather disappointed children.

After a busy few weeks, I have just got the illustration complete and thought I would get it uploaded for you to have a look at. It ended up taking quite a while to complete as some of the background elements proved to be quite intricate and quite time consuming, but it was certainly worth the time spent on it. I also removed one of the front characters from the illustration as I felt it was getting a little cluttered.

The illustration will be available to purchase from iStock in the next week or so, but here is a preview of it and also a close up of the Dinner Lady character (just so you can have a better view).

Selling Microstock Interview

Recently I had the absolute pleasure of doing an interview with a fantastic new website for Microstock contributer's (like iStockphoto) called Selling Microstock.

It is full of tips and interviews and is a must for anyone who currently contributes to Microstock sites, or is considering to do so in the future. It is also a great read for anyone who is interested in illustration and it offers a whole range of tips and tricks to improve your skills.

You can see my interview by clicking here or by logging on to http://sellingmicrostocks.com/.

Have a great weekend!

Twitter

I've finally decided to bite the bullet and actually get a Twitter account, and so if you want to follow me you can find me here: http://twitter.com/@RubberPenguin.

I can't promise you I'll be the next Russell Brand, but I'll try to keep you entertained with my updates.

New sketches

After a really busy few weeks freelancing across London, I was able to get some sketching done this weekend for future iStock illustrations.

They are based on the initial sketches I posted here a few weeks ago, but have been tidied up a bit.

I won't be able to get the final vector illustrations completed for a while yet, but I will post them as soon as they are finished.
