New Year, New Style...

Hmmm... Well maybe that title is a little harsh when I say new style, but for the last few months I have contemplated having a separate style to the one I currently have which is a little more 'minimalis' shall we say.

It is not that I am getting bored with my current style (or that I am infact just being lazy), but I just wanted to experiment with the idea of creating characters which are made of simple shapes, very few colours and with no shading or depth to them.

I really love strong defined lines and solid blocks of colour in artwork and I suppose this development was inevitable.

In the coming months I am planning on creating a few illustrations to sell on iStock and see how they are received.

As soon as they are available I will let you all know.

Until then, I have enclosed a very early sketch of the style (though I do plan on simplifying it some more).

It certainly isn't a million miles away from the way I am working now, but I don't see this as replacing my current style at all. I just want to have another way of portraying my ideas and I think this could be the avenue to go down.

Speak soon!

  1. Stumbled upon your blog the other day. Great to know that I can now follow your illustrative exploits, and look forward to learning more about this new direction for 2010.

  2. Hey Elroy!
Thanks for stopping by mate! How are things with you? Are you still in Brighton?
